JUVEDERM VOLBELLA INJECTIONS

All treatments begin with a medical history review and a consultation to discuss your desired results, expectations, and to come up with a plan. We will give you a handout of things to do or avoid after your treatments.

Volbella is injected into the skin in a simple and quick treatment performed by a licensed healthcare provider using a fine-gauge needle. You can either sit or recline during treatment.

When injected into the lips Volbella replenishes the hyaluronic acid that has been absorbed into your body over time, helping to plump lips, and achieve a fresher, fuller, more youthful lip appearance.

The entire appointment should take less than an hour, including time for a consultation.

JUVEDERM VOLBELLA INFORMATION

All products in the Juvéderm® collection of fillers are made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural substance in the skin that delivers nutrients, helps the skin retain moisture and softness, and adds volume. Each product in the Juvéderm® family is made from a modified form of HA.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the body. It works by holding in water at the injection site and acting as a cushioning agent. It adds temporary volume and a smoother appearance to skin. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal results.

Juvéderm® products are developed using the Hylacross technology to allow a smoother, malleable gel, compared to some hyaluronic gel products that have a granular consistency.

Volbella is the first product in the Juvederm line to use Allergan’s new Vycross technology, which, similar to Restylane’s formula, combines different weights of hylauronic acid molecules to produce  smooth, long-lasting results.

Volbella also contains a lower concentration of hyaluronic acid (15mg/mL) than the rest of the Juvederm line, allowing it to add subtler volume to the lips, and making it a better choice for the treatment of perioral lines. The lower levels of HA make Volbella less hydrophilic, so it will absorb less water and enable a more natural-looking result.

The products are very similar in nature, and are both used in the lips and perioral lines, but do have a few solid differentiators:

  • Volbella is lighter, producing a more natural result than Juvederm Ultra XC.
  • Juvederm Ultra XC is a better solution for those who prefer a more volumptuous pout.
  • Juvederm Ultra XC lasts 6-9 months; Volbella lasts up to 1 year.
  • Volbella’s lower concentration of hyaluronic acid makes it a better choice for the treatment of perioral lines.

NATURAL LOOKING JUVEDERM VOLBELLA LIP FILLER

With a skilled eye, the right candidate, and propper injection techniques, Volbella can produce amazingly natural-looking lip results. For a more artificial or fuller look, Juvederm Ultra XC might be a better option.

To determine whether you are a candidate for Volbella, or other fillers, please schedule a complimenary consultation via phone at (561) 682-1325 or online.

CAN JUVEDERM VOLBELLA BE REVERSED

Yes! All Juvederm products, which are made with hyalauronic acid, can be reversed (dissolved) with hylauronidase. The hyluronidase solution can be injected into the same area, and will usually dissolve the Juvederm in four to five days.

PREPARING FOR JUVEDERM VOLBELLA TREATMENTS

You will be asked to avoid the following medications and herbs which may increase bleeding, and may cause bruising for at least two weeks prior to Juvederm Volbella injections:

  • Any NSAIDs (such as Ibuprofen, Aleve®, Motrin®, Advil®, or Aspirin®)
  • Coumadin
  • Garlic
  • Ginseng
  • Ginkgo Biloba
  • Glucosamine
  • Fish Oil, and St. John’s Wort, high doses of Vitamin E, and Alcohol.

It is best to remove makeup from the area being treated. We will gladly do this in office for you, however it is ideal if this can be done prior to treatment.

JUVEDERM VOLBELLA PROCEDURE

At Estucia, all treatments begin with a private consultation to discuss your desired results, expectations, and aesthetic goals. During the initial consultation, our practitioner in Palm Beach will ask you about your desired results and create a course of action with you. Then we will take a brief medical history to ensure there will be no adverse reactions to Juvederm Volbella, or other desired treatments.

To make your experience as comfortable as possible, you’re welcomed to either sit or recline during treatment.

Depending on where you are being injected, your Juvederm procedure may begin with numbing creme. Injections are administered with an ultra-fine blunt needle directly into each of the areas being treated. Discomfort is brief, very similar to drawing blood. There is usually minimal discomfort once the injection is complete.

We may briefly apply a cold compress to your injected area to help soothe it and reduce the swelling, if any. Afterwards we will give you a handout of things to do or avoid after your treatments.

The entire appointment should take less than an hour, including time for a consultation.

If you’re like most patients, you’ll return directly to work or normal activity immediately.

JUVEDERM VOLBELLA RECOVERY

After treatment, you might have some swelling, redness, pain, bruising, itching at the injection site, or tenderness. These are typically mild in severity and normally last less than 14–18 days in lips. Swelling may be more likely in patients under 36 years, and bruising may be more likely in patients over 35 years.

AFTER RECEIVING JUVEDERM VOLBELLA

As with most cosmetic injections, we recommend that you not exercise directly following treatment as this will raise blood pressure and interfere with the product settling properly.

It’s important to avoid strenuous activities, like working out, for 8 hours following treatment. Do not lie down for 8 hours following treatment.

To avoid altering your body’s temperature avoid exposure to intense heat (sun lamp or sunbathing) or extreme cold.

To reduce the risk of facial cold sore recurrence that could be caused by needle punctures, talk with your healthcare professional about medications that may minimize the likelihood of an outbreak.

To decrease the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site you may use cold compresses to reduce swelling. Avoid alcohol, any non-prescribed blood thinners or NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, Advil, Aspirin, and some herbs like St. John’s Wort, and high doses of vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment.

HOW LONG DOES JUVEDERM VOLBELLA LAST?

Volbella is the first Juvederm filler known to last up to one year.

It is important to note that the results and longevity of all dermal filler products can vary from person to person depending on metabolism, water intake, exercise, vitamins, and various other personal factors.

According to a study by Allergan, the company that produces Juvederm Volbella, 80% of people treated with Volbella experienced improvement in satisfaction with the look and feel of their lips 1 year later.

Additionally, 75% of people treated with Volbella experienced improvement in satisfaction with the look and feel of their vertical lip lines 1 year later. When treated again after one year, patients needed less product to achieve their same desired results.
