HOW CHEMICAL PEELS WORK
Just as the name implies, chemical peels work by using chemicals (usually glycolic, alpha hydroxy acids, salicylic acid (BHA), or phenol to peel back the outermost layer of skin. Just a few minutes on the skin is often enough to achieve noticeable results.

PREPARING FOR A CHEMICAL PEEL
Prior to your chemical peel you will be asked to stay out of the sun.
It is best to remove makeup from the area being treated. We will gladly do this in office for you, however it is ideal if you can arrive for your treatment with thoroughly cleansed skin with no lotions or cremes.
CHEMICAL PEEL PROCEDURE
At Estucia, all chemical peel treatments begin with a private consultation to discuss your desired results, expectations, and aesthetic goals. During the initial consultation, our practitioner in Palm Beach will take a brief medical history to ensure there will be no adverse reactions to the products being applied to your skin.
First we cleanse your skin to remove any dirt that may prevent the peel from working. Then we gently apply the peel to the face. The entire procedure takes about 40 minutes, allowing time the chemical peel to sit for 1-10 minutes. There will be a tingling or burning sensation as the peel works its magic. Once the solution is removed, the burning sensation will fade.
Afterwards we will give you a handout of things to do or avoid after your treatments, including directions for how to care for your skin during the peeling phase.
The entire appointment should take about an hour, including time for a consultation.
AFTER RECEIVING A CHEMICAL PEEL
Your skin will peel for 1-5 days after your chemical peel treatment.
Because we will have removed the outermost layer of skin, the newly exposed skin will be especially sensitive to light. It is recommended to wear 50+ sunscreen after a chemical peel, even if you remain indoors. Stay away from any direct sunlight for 7-14 days after a chemical peel.
